Deseo de ser árbol
Deseo de ser árbol is a brave and deeply honest collection of poems that explores desire as a force that runs through childhood, family, love, and the body. Ángelo Néstore, true to his poetics, delves into the places where this impulse is born and, at the same time, is tamed: the home, emotional bonds, the rules that try to set the limits of what is desirable.
From this tension, the book places us in a conflict that is also a possibility for liberation. The poems imagine other ways of enjoying, loving, and inhabiting one’s own body, oriented towards the collective, the organic, and the animal. Its pages open the space to think about communities of affection where other joys, other pleasures, and other ways of naming what we feel are possible.
Winner of the 5th ESPASAesPOESÍA Award 2022, Deseo de ser árbol confirms Ángelo Néstore as one of the most unique voices in contemporary poetry written in Spanish.
