Emilio y Octubre
Emilio and Octubre were destined to meet. Their first kiss was beneath the skirts of a menina from the Prado. Despite their love, will they manage to be together?
Emilio remembers how he glimpsed through the translucent skin of his mother’s belly the Murillo replica hanging in the Madrid hospital where he was born. He wonders, from inside a Magritte canvas, why at the end of the red thread tied to his pinky finger after birth he then read the name of a month.
Octubre doesn’t know where her name comes from. She remembers that first love she kissed beneath the skirts of a menina from the Prado. She wonders where he might be now, while diving under the waters of Patinir’s Styx lagoon. Until they can love each other, they will plan shadows of faded birds, tears of tempera will emerge from stitched eyes, Europe will dry up, swallow a dying man, and someone will run across a continent without stopping.
This is the love story of Emilio and Octubre, told from the birth of one to the death of the other, in a near future where we will enter the three-dimensionalized paintings of museums and travel across the entire European continent.
