Federico: Vida de Federico García Lorca
The book Federico, by Ilu Ros, is a graphic biography of Federico García Lorca that stands out for its illustrated and deeply documentary approach. Published by Lumen, this comic blends research with an evocative and personal visual narrative, capturing both the public and emotional life of the poet. It is recognized for its free and expressive line work and has been praised as one of the best comics of 2021. Through this work, Ros invites the reader into a dialogue between generations, where Lorca’s words resonate in a visual style that mixes past and present, encouraging a deeper understanding of his cultural impact and emotional legacy.
In this book, we hear the voices of those who knew him, from his close family to the legion of friends who frequented him during his years in Granada, in the lyrical gatherings at the Residencia de Estudiantes, or throughout his intense literary life. And, of course, his own voice: that of the poet, the playwright, the lecturer, with the clarity of ideas that still hold the same strength today, and finally, the bare voice of the son, the brother, and the passionate lover. Ilu Ros merges voices and words with her illustrations, which draw us in like the magnetic personality of Federico García Lorca: an icon for past, present, and future generations.
