La canción pop
A novel about the passage of time and lost innocence. The bedside book of a disillusioned generation.
Simón has to travel from London to Barcelona to attend the funeral of Carlos, one of his best friends. The night after the burial, everyone meets at the apartment that served as a gathering point in their youth, and the reunion spirals out of control. Disappointments, resentment, hopes, disillusionment, the clash with reality, love, drugs, and sex come and go through the hands of confused characters in a constant state of doubt. Using references ranging from Sigur Rós to Radiohead, from Rafa Spunky to Marilyn Manson, or from the 'nouvelle vague' to the cinema of Xavier Dolan, Raúl Portero evokes with precision and melancholy the sadness, cruelty, and desolation of that generation born in the eighties searching for itself in big cities.
