Elise Alderman is one of the great voices of Surman literature. After her death, she left three unpublished manuscripts that have been edited and published by Derrick Metropolitan University: Alondra, Exis, and Espectro. Alondra: Kamia is a former DPIS agent tasked with finding the person responsible for a series of murders that have baffled the entire Police Department. Exis: In a space colony where humans are oppressed and hunted by self-aware artificial intelligences, a human has been captured; TecV5, the AI in charge of the Incubation Department, offers to interrogate her. Espectro: At Imnesiac, the most important company for recreational memory immersions, a hack endangers its users. Regina, an investigative journalist, takes on following the clues of the cyberattack. Elise Alderman’s unpublished novels is Fani Álvarez’s second work, which uses the fictional author and her life to frame these three science fiction novelettes, exploring and reflecting on the moral and social dilemmas of technology use, what makes us human, and what takes that humanity away from us.
