Pormishuevismo: real cases of waste and speculation, from Benidorm to Calatrava. You will learn and be outraged in equal measure.
Discover the story of urban development scams in Spain like never before with the definitive book on Pormishuevismo. From the hand of Erik Harley, expert in urban studies and collaborator of El Intermedio, this book offers a critical and biting journey through the most notorious cases of waste and speculation in our country.
What is Pormishuevismo?
Created by Erik Harley himself in 2019, Pormishuevismo is a fictional constructive movement that serves as a tool to denounce speculative, corrupt, and gentrifying projects. The name, as excessive and testosterone-fueled as the stories it tells, reflects the obscenity of the "because I’m worth it" architecture that has defined part of the Spanish landscape.
In this book you will find
-
A detailed analysis of the country’s most notorious cases of waste, mixing rigor, critique, and lots of humor.
- The perfect combination of "speculation and gossip" to understand the intricacies of the real estate bubble and its consequences.
-
A review of iconic figures and places such as Benidorm, Marina d’Or, the works of Calatrava, the era of Jesús Gil, the Torres Colón, and the failed Balenciaga museum, among others.
-
A unique perspective that will make you laugh and get outraged in equal parts while learning about Spain’s recent history.
