Redada de violetas: La represión de los homosexuales durante el franquismo
Reissue of the classic history of homosexuality in Spain, first published in 2003 with an epilogue by politician Pedro Zerolo.
Considered criminals, many Spanish homosexuals were victims of state-organized repression during the Franco regime, which involved imprisonment in jails or penitentiary colonies, initially under the Law of Vagrants and Thugs and, from 1970 onwards, under the Social Danger Law, in a sinister episode that had remained ignored for decades. Redada de violetas explores the history of the homosexual community in Franco's Spain through a broad fresco of experiences, centered on the incredible stories of people imprisoned for their sexual orientation or subjected to medical therapies who decided to share their testimony.
